About the Nominee: Ali Gulsari was nominated by a colleague, Omar Polat.Mr. Ali is a LifeChanger in his community simply because he works very hard with his students. He not only contributes to his students' academic progress, but to their social well-beings, as well. He's with two kids, but he always finds time to organize field trips, college visits and Robotics tournaments. Mr. Ali sacrifices days, nights and weekends to influence his students' lives. His students have attended local, national and even international Vex Robotics tournaments as representatives of the Magnolia Public Schools community.Mr. Ali's school is located in San Fernando Valley. 90% of the students come from low-income, under-served areas and 80% of them are Hispanic/Latino students. School is priceless for these students because almost all of them have gone to places they had never been with Mr. Ali. Some of his students attended international field trips and got to see Europe with him. They also went to Kentucky for the International Vex Tournament and not only represented California, but the United States. His students ranked 116th out of more than 4000 teams from around the world. This was a unique achievement for a school and students from Reseda.In addition, Mr. Ali has been coaching his students for the Congressional Award. The Congressional Award is the United States Congress’ award for young Americans. It is non-partisan, voluntary and non-competitive. Participants earn Bronze, Silver, and Gold Congressional Award Certificates and Medals. Each level involves setting goals in four program areas: Volunteer Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness and Expedition/Exploration. Mr. Ali's students received a Silver Medal from the Congressman for his district, Mr. Brad Sherman.All of the aforementioned statements are simply extracurricular activities that Mr. Ali has been doing for many years. Besides those, he is a very effective computer teacher. He is currently teaching AP Computer Principles to Magnolia Science Academy 1's freshman students for the first time.Long story short, Mr. Ali is a unique LifeChanger, and his school is thankful to have him. They're so proud of him and appreciate his hard work.
