His nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous, states that their children had him as a teacher at the beginning of their middle school years. They immediately felt comfortable with Mr. Kumabe and middle school.Mr. Kumabe understands that sixth grade can be a challenging time for incoming students, so he always makes everyone feel welcome and valued. His nominator's children enjoyed his class and learned a lot, not only about the world around them, but about being a kind and compassionate person. Mr. Kumabe also coaches wrestling and dedicates his time to a number of school activities. He is always supportive of school functions, and he is a beloved teacher at Washington Middle School. The students love him!
