About the Nominee: For the last 16 years, Dana Nguyen has dedicated her life to her students. She has dedicated countless hours of time outside of school to helping her students improve their writing, prepare for the SATs, apply for college and give back by doing service in their own community. Although her students are from a low socio-economic area, she has encouraged them to pursue the college dream. She has helped students build their confidence so that they feel like they can compete with students from anywhere. Even though some of her students struggle financially, Ms. Nguyen has inspired them to give back to their community through various community projects such as working with foster youth, Toys for Tots and serving the elderly and homeless.
