He brings a level of spirit, innovation and encouragement that fosters and inspires learning in all of his students. He knows how to cultivate a classroom that engages the most students, including those who are struggling, and holds every level of learner to the highest standards. One will always find Mr. Ewing nurturing an environment that helps students to feel safe taking risks, whether they're working on engineering design in his Pre-K class, 3D printing with his Kindergarten class or coding with his fifth grade at-risk girl’s group. In every one of these environments, students work together in teams and push their own learning ownership further than they ever believed.Mr. Ewing is a coach of learning. His high regard for transforming the learning environment to meet the needs of 21st century students is evident every day in his classroom. He is that teacher whose class every student cannot wait to get to. For the 2016-2017 school year, Mr. Ewing has joined a school in DC Public Schools in order to reach more students than a general-ed classroom. Additionally, his passion to inspire other teachers is becoming more evident as he helps implement STEM education in every classroom.Mr. Ewing is a global collaborator and a model educator who breaks every mold. His nominator says they wish they could go back to school and learn from Mr. Ewing.
