About the Nominee: During the 2016-17 school year, Hawking Charter School became an independent school. Martha Ruiz was thrust into the role of HR Manager. She had to develop third-party protocol, benefits for the staff, payroll protocols, etc. Essentially, she had to build the HR department from the ground up and does this tirelessly, even working over the Thanksgiving holiday. Through it all, she is always pleasant and willing to help with any issues her colleagues and students bring to her.Ms. Ruiz' most important role is that of a mom. She's the mother of two amazing school age children. She is passionate about their education, well-being and environment.
