About the Nominee: Dr. Micca Knox inherited a school that faced many challenges. The school sits across from a graveyard. The students struggled, too, both financially and in their personal lives. As a result, the community lost their vested interest in the school. Dr. Knox came in and completely re-vamped the culture and climate of Isable Elementary. Under her leadership, the school has grown to a "B" school in just three years. She has found adopters, mentorship groups and sponsors for her school. Isable Elementary is on the path to becoming an "A" school, and, most importantly, the community takes pride in it.
