About the Nominee: Mitzi Howard works unrelentingly to make sure her students are given every opportunity to succeed in the classroom. She challenges her students to read, write and practice life skills at school, as well as in their home lives. Ms. Howard has created a connection for her love of sports, science and everyday living to education. She helps and assists co-workers, friends and families in the community by encouraging these educational pursuits, as well as helping with the John W. Armstrong Elementary School garden. She has many other accomplishments, such as curriculum writing with the district, running a STEM challenge with students, Camp Invention, etc. Ms. Howard is a hidden gem and a LifeChanger because of her hard work and dedication to education!
