About the Nominee: Nicole Anders was nominated by her principal, Tiffany Davis.Teaching is one of the most complicated jobs today. It demands broad knowledge of subject matter, curriculum and standards. It also requires enthusiasm, a caring attitude, a love of learning and knowledge of discipline and classroom management techniques. Most importantly, teachers must have the desire to make a difference in the lives of young people. With all these qualities required, it may be hard to find great teachers, but it's not impossible.Ms. Anders is setting the bar high at Westlawn Middle School. She has a sense of purpose and expectations of success for all students. She is willing to adapt and change to meet all of her student’s needs. Ms. Anders is intentional as she teaches, and she expects all students to learn. She is transforming the learning culture in her school by setting high expectations for her students and herself. One strength that she embodies is her willingness to try new ideas.She is an advocate for doing what is best for students. She implements best practices such as small group instruction/centers in her classroom in order to meet the needs of all students. Ms. Anders also integrates 1:1 technology to enhance student learning. She is a team player, and she communicates well with all stakeholders.Mrs. Anders is changing the way her students see the world!
