About the Nominee: Renae Lee was nominated by a colleague, Lyn Parker.Ms. Lee wears many hats and is always involved in her school and community. She runs the Pine Ridge High School (PRHS) Healthcare Academy and HOSA. She also holds a second job at John Knox Village.Ms. Lee is a single mom who is very active in her sons' lives. One son attends Pine Ridge High School, and the other attends Trinity Christian. Both sons are involved in sports, and she makes sure she attends all of their events.She organized and hosted an annual health fair at her school and is in the process of organizing another health fair. The health fair involved many community sponsors, including the City of Deltona, Daytona State College, Debbie’s Health Foods and the Volusia County School Board. Ms. Lee also attends and represents PRHS at health fairs at other area schools with her students.Some of the additional ways she has made a positive impact include;• Teaching her students the do’s and don’ts of job interviews.• Training her students to be CPR Certified.• Teaching basic skills and trauma drills in collaboration with Deltona Fire Rescue Teams.• Running the PRHS S.W.A.T. Club (Students Working Against Tobacco).• Attending the Sia Brain Awareness Walkathon at Dewey O’ Booster Park.• Attending the October Fest at Deltona Women’s Club.• Hosting the Goal For the Goal Pink Out for Breast Cancer Fundraiser.• Hosting a Healthcare Academy parent night, which allowed parents to meet local business partners.• Volunteering at the Latin Festival in November.• Recognizing local crossing guards, the school nurse, custodial staff and other staff members during HOSA Week.• Recognizing Deltona Fire Station #61 during HOSA Week.• Teaching proper hand washing techniques to kindergarten students at the local elementary school.• Hosting the One Voice for Volusia #KnowTheLaw and #DatingViolence presentation.• Attending a weekend training seminar in November at Camp Kaulqua with other area schools.• Attending the 11th Annual High School Showcase at the Volusia County Fairgrounds.• Hosting a pancake breakfast fundraisers at Fire Station #61 the weekend her nomination was made.Ms. Lee is currently working with a few other staff members to host a “mock crash” event on campus, which will involve many community business partners. The “mock crash” will take place right before the school prom in April to show students the consequences of drinking & driving and texting & driving.Ms. Lee is a very dedicated employee and LifeChanger!
