About the Nominee: Rita Jett was nominated by her principal, Tia Edwards.Rita Jett builds relationships with all students. She helps students with behavioral issues by holding them to high expectations and teaching the social skills necessary to survive within the school day and community. By building relationships with her students, she is able to help them become more successful academically. Her students have her home phone number, where they can contact her regularly with homework help and/or personal issues and concerns. Ms. Jett has sponsored multiple clothing giveaways annually for students using her own money, recruiting staff to make donations as well. Also, Ms. Jett is a life-long Rock Island resident and has amazing hometown and school pride.
