About the Nominee: Susanna Brooks makes a difference in the lives of her students and colleagues every day. She has a gift for recognizing a student in need and stepping in to help. Mrs. Brooks established Free Home Elementary School's Rocket Pantry program with the goal of sending food home to students in need every Friday during the school year. Since the inception of this program, she has worked with members of the community to help supply the food pantry. One local church heard about Mrs. Brooks’ program and was inspired to create a ministry to help the growing number of needy families in the community.In addition to Rocket Pantry, Mrs. Brooks is also in charge of Free Home's Christmas Angels project. This program pairs sponsors with wish lists from children to provide them with clothing, shoes and Christmas gifts which they wouldn’t receive otherwise.Mrs. Brooks also has a heart to help the staff of Free Home. She encourages staff members to utilize their personal gifts to enhance their professional and personal lives. Her door is always open, and she is a trusted source of advice. She has been selected for two different crisis teams in Cherokee County. Her presence at Free Home is a comfort due to her expertise in this area.Mrs. Brooks’ integrity is never in question. Students, parents and staff trust her regularly with confidential information. She is in a position where she is privy to very sensitive information, and she handles it with the utmost professionalism. For these reasons, it is clear that Mrs. Brooks is an excellent LifeChanger!
