About the Nominee: Tara Levine was nominated by her principal, Susan Groth, who has supervised her for over 5 years.Ms. Levine truly exhibits the characteristics of an outstanding teacher and loyal, supportive staff member. Knowledgeable, energetic, flexible, dedicated and assertive are among several adjectives that describe her personality. She is a stellar teacher who consistently promotes excellence in education by inspiring students to believe in themselves and reach for the stars.Ms. Levine is a fourth grade self-contained teacher and grade chairperson whose knowledge of curriculum and assessment are attributes that she possesses and readily shares with her colleagues. One of her strengths that she engages in regularly is unpacking the Florida standards and teaching to the rigor of the standards. Ms. Levine analyzes data and collaborates with her team to discuss trends and patterns on student assessments. She leads her team in the implementation of high yield, research-based strategies and instructional practices to meet the needs of all students. Ms. Levine has created comprehensive data tracking systems that she readily shares with others. During the 2015-16 school year, she led a team of 6 teachers to an increase of 5% proficiency on the Florida State Assessment and reduced the number of students performing at level 1 significantly.In addition to her skills as a classroom teacher and grade chairperson, Ms. Levine was trained as the i-Ready super user, where she attends training and disseminates information to teachers regarding this district-wide technology enhancement. She is a mentor to new teachers and supports veteran teachers with state, district and school initiatives. She is also the chairperson for Frontier’s math and technology committee. In this role, she facilitates collaborative conversation with colleagues to enhance math and technology instruction school-wide.Ms. Levine is a highly respected member of Frontier’s staff and an asset to her school. She is an exemplary educator and an ongoing learner. She is also a teacher who persistently strives to maximize each student’s potential, and she is relentless in her pursuit of success for every student entrusted to her.
