About the Nominee: Wayne G. Jacobsen is a true LifeChanger! He has worked at the Katzenbach School for the Deaf (MKSD) since he graduated college. Mr. Jacobsen started out as a residential staff member in the dorm program. Then, he worked in the Deaf/Blind/Multiply Disabled program, where he had a variety of responsibilities. He worked his way to become a physical education teacher before earning his principal's certificate. He has been principal of both the elementary school and the high school. In his current role, he oversees the educational programming of students with hearing loss, as well as emotional/behavioral challenges.Mr. Jacobsen is a LifeChanger in every sense of the word! He is the backbone of the High School. When something needs to be done, he is the one that knows what to do. He knows each of his students personally and is there to help them through emotional times, fun times and times when they may need discipline.MKSD is a small, specialized school that is more of a family than simply an educational setting. Mr. Jacobsen is there to volunteer his time at after school or weekend events. You can find him manning the BBQ at the annual picnic, running games or directing traffic on campus for events. He attends weekend tournaments, as well as every prom and every graduation for each building. There is hardly an event that he misses.Mr. Jacobsen is a LifeChanger because is often a "Life Saver," whether he's covering classes, assisting multiply disabled students if their aide is on break, monitoring lunch duty so others can have a break or directing traffic at bus duty!Staff and students alike know that he is the person that will be there to listen, give advice or be a shoulder to cry on. He is certainly a LifeChanger at MKSD!
