About the Nominee: Katherine Villone is a passionate and devoted teacher who creates a dynamic classroom and unique lessons for her young students. She cultivates in each one of them a life-long passion for learning. Through the classroom, time dedicated before and after school, and through mentoring and influencing colleagues, she is able to affect the lives of many students every day. For the colleague who nominated her, Ms. Villone is a teacher to emulate.Not only does Ms. Villone take responsibility for the cognitive growth of students but goes out of her way to help children grow personally. She is devoted to providing students with the best learning experience possible. She is the leader of the student community service club, Helping Hands, which recently collected over 200 books for students in Kenya. Past students who have had Ms. Villone often come by, not only to visit, but also when they need someone to talk to. No matter how busy or tired, she always finds the time to lend an ear. For families of students in need, she has been known to provide food, clothing and school materials.
