About the Nominee: Kristi DuBose is a highly trained reading professional whose impact on students has been profound.Under her guidance, Overland Elementary's Response to Intervention program is recognized as one of the premier programs for academic interventions in the region. Mrs. DuBose works tirelessly with her students to improve their reading and comprehension skills, build their self-confidence and provide them with a loving environment.Her work with dyslexic students has allowed many of them to have academic success they never imagined. She has been a leader in many areas of academic life in her school. She has also presented at the Regional Service Center on Overton's RTI program and has been a mentor to other reading teachers in the district.Mrs. DuBose is focused on her students' total well-being. She attends summer league baseball and softball games to watch her students participate. At Halloween, her home is the highlight for many students, as they are encouraged to come see her to get treats and show off their costumes. She is a mother figure to many students. They know she loves them and only wants the best for them. It is obvious that she is greatly loved and appreciated by those with whom she has come in contact.
