About the Nominee: LaShondra Fields was nominated by her mother, Robin Fields.LaShondra Fields is an influential person in her school and community. She has been teaching at Evans High School for ten years and has made an amazing impact on the students. Last year, she was selected as the Teacher of The Year for her school. The year before, she won the Coach of the Year Award for Orange County. She has also been named Language Arts Teacher of the Year four times since she started at Evans High School.Ms. Fields has also been the yearbook advisor since 2007. She and her yearbook staff have won several awards throughout the years. In addition, she coaches three sports at the school, which include cheerleading, track, and girls' weightlifting. Over the years, Ms. Fields has taken the cheer team at Evans from the bottom to the top, even helping them become State runner-ups last year.Aside from all of her activities, she still finds time to mentor students, and was nominated for Evans High School's Mentor of The Year award. She has also volunteered her time in the community by helping out with community food drives, Walk For Education, Community Clean-ups, etc. Ms. Fields has also taken it upon herself each year to collect gently used formal dresses for girls at the school who cannot afford a homecoming or prom dress. Her mother is so proud of the young woman that she is and continues to become! During the summer, Ms. Fields volunteers her time coaching Amateur Athletic Union basketball with youth players who cannot always afford to play travel basketball. She partakes in several tournaments with the kids, picking them up and transporting them to practices and tournaments both in and out of town. She assisted in helping the team win their first national championship this past summer.The one thing that makes Ms. Fields' mother happier than ever is that her daughter is a single mom of a 12 year old boy who loves and adores her. She has raised a respectful, talented young man, all while mentoring, educating, and coaching other students. She is truly a talented young woman who holds the admiration of many people, including her mother. Many of Ms. Fields' students love and admire her, too. She is compassionate about what she does, and the students know that she really cares about their future. Year after year, students come back to thank her for always encouraging them to be successful.Ms. Fields has definitely helped change lives in her school and community. She is a well-respected young lady with a big heart who will go above and beyond for others to be happy. Many times, she will put others' needs before her own. She is a true LifeChanger who continues to go above and beyond for everyone in her school and community!
