About the Nominee: Louis Vircillo was nominated by his principal, Melissa Rodriguez.Mr. Vircillo brings the real world into his classroom. He engages his student in deep discussions where their ideas and opinions are valued. His students are willing to take intellectual risks and meet the high standards Mr. Vircillo sets for them. At PS 140, which is a Title I school, many of his students have great needs. Mr. Vircillo offers them opportunities to be successful by meeting with them during and after school for additional academic and social/emotional support.
