About the Nominee: William Lattimore was nominated by his superintendent, Chuck Gibson.Mr. Lattimore has served as the lead custodian at Jones County High School for over 20 years. Before coming to the town of Gray, he served in both the United States Marine Corps and Army. Mr. Lattimore is a model for both students and teachers. He is the first one on campus every day, making sure the building is accessible to staff and students. He is often the last one to leave the building. With that said, his role is more than opening buildings.Mr. Lattimore is a power lifter. He finished in the top ten in his age bracket a couple years ago in a national meet. Mr. Lattimore was the strength coach for the boys basketball team for 15 years. He would lift the team before and after school hours and was present at all games. Mr. Lattimore also serves on the school's Better Seeking Team, which is a team of faculty and staff that leads the school mission and vision of Academics, Behavior and Character. Lastly, he spends his entire lunch duty restocking snack and drink machines. He takes this time to meet and personally get to know all students. He asks them about their grades, amount of tardies (getting to school and class on time) and family members. Mr. Lattimore has a heart of service and works behind the scenes to make Jones County a better place!
